BMW is busy preparing a hot version of its 2 Series coupe called M2 and it’s been said that the car is in the final stages of development. It looks like the car is, indeed, ready for the roads as production-ready prototypes begin to appear again on the Nurburgring circuit in Germany.
The prototype is seen with a wider track and even wider wheels to match. Under those wheels, massive cross-drilled rotors hide while the boot lid features a small lip for more downforce on the rear axle.
The M2 is expected to be powered by a 3-litre turbocharged 6-cylinder engine with close to 380bhp of power. According to previous reports, the M2 will also be available with both manual and automatic gearbox, most likely a 6-speed and an 8-speed respectively.
When launched later this year, the M2 will be sold as the flagship performance model in the 2 Series range, above the M235i coupe that is currently on sale.
