The BMW M2 has been spied testing at the Nurburgring and it seems like the car is close to production form. The M2 might be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show to be held in September this year.
BMW has been tight-lipped about the engine to be used in the M2; we believe that it will mostly be a re-engineered version of the 3.0-litre N55 unit. Speculations indicate that it might get power in the range of 370bhp, while a few sources claim there might be power as high as 400bhp on tap. However we believe BMW won’t give it power in excess of 380bhp as that will make its elder sibling a little out of place. There are rumours that it will strictly be a manual only, but we expect it to also get BMW’s M-DCT auto box. There is a possibility that it might get an all-wheel drive.
BMW might launch the M2 in early 2016 in the international markets. For India, it recently launched the M3 Sedan and the M4 Coupe and there is a strong possibility that the German carmaker might introduce the M2 to strengthen its performance range in India.
