It seems like the upcoming BMW M2 is evolving in every spy picture. A test mule spotted in a production ready form indicates that the development phase is nearing completion. The last time it was spotted with Quad tail pipes, a signature element of BMW M cars which was found missing in the spy pictures of the earlier M2 prototypes.
Although, a few elements like the M-style wing mirrors, a scooped hood are missing. Also, the prototype was spotted with new front and rear bumpers that look like the production units made for the M2. The earlier mules used the M235i Racing’s bumpers.
The source claims that apart from these changes the test mule looks identical to the ones spotted earlier. There is still ambiguity over the engine the new M2 might be using as a few reports suggest that BMW is also developing a new four-cylinder engine for its M range. But, expect the turbocharged 3.0-litre, straight-six engine to do the duty in the M2 churning out 374bhp.
If BMW gets this car right, it can be the spiritual successor to the now defunct M3. The 2 Series has many won many accolades for its handling already and who knows this might turn out to be the most fun M car in its range.
