German luxury car manufacturer BMW is likely to launch the M2 Competition in India soon. If introduced, this will mark the debut of the 2-Series in the Indian market. The two-door, front-engine, rear-wheel drive vehicle is indeed the smallest M-badged offering. Media reports claim that bookings for the M2 Competition is likely to begin soon, however the company is yet to confirm the same.
Under the hood, the M2 Competition will be powered by a 3.0-litre, twin-turbocharged, in-line six-cylinder engine. Mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, it generates 405bhp of power and 550Nm of torque. The company claims that the vehicle is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in just about 4.2 seconds and the top speed is electronically restricted to 250kmph. If offered with an optional Driver’s Package, it might be capable of attaining a top speed of 280kmph.
Replacing the standard M2, the M2 Competition will get adaptive LED headlamps and 19-inch alloy wheels. The M2 Competition gets redesigned kidney grille, larger cooling ducts, redesigned tail lamp, tweaked rear bumper and M-styled exterior ORVMs to give it a sportier stance over the M2 Coupe. As for the interior, the vehicle will be offered with sports seats with black leather upholstery and contrast stitching.
BMW might offer a range of optional equipment in the form of 360W Harman Kardon audio system with 12 speakers, BMW apps, Navigation System Professional and more. Reports also indicate that the company might also introduce the M5 Competition in the country. More details for the M2 Competition will be known in the days to come.
