BMW India has launched the facelifted 7 Series for Rs 92.90 lakh (average ex-showroom). The car was launched globally in May 2012 and was previewed in the presence of Sachin Tendulkar and actress Dia Mirza during a function in Jodhpur last month. The 2013 7 Series has got cosmetic changes as well as an increase in power across most of the engines. BMW has also confirmed that the 730Ld will be assembled at their Chennai plant while the rest of the cars in the line-up will continue to be brought to India via the CBU (completely built up unit) route. Deliveries will begin from May 1.
Changes to the 2013 model on the outside include new LED headlamps with corona rings, a slightly modified grille, revised front bumpers, indicators, turn indicators on the ORVMs and chrome inserts in both the front and back. Inside, there are new leather seats in the front, a Bang & Olufsen audio system as well as an optional rear seat entertainment package. BMW has now also fitted a fully digital instrument cluster. The new 7 Series has also been fitted with the BMWs Ecopro technology that includes automatic start stop and brake energy regeneration.
Under the hood, the engine line up remains the same as before but now two of the mill have been tuned to churn out more power. The 730Ld’s power has been increased from 245bhp to 258bhp while the 750Li’s power has been increased from 408bhp to 450bhp. The entire range now gets the ZF eight speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.
