BMW is proactively planning to expand their electric portfolio and gave us a hint of their new vehicle ahead of the Beijing motor show. The iX3 concept, which uses what they call the fifth-generation of their eDrive technology, was recently unveiled at the event. Let's take a look at the picture gallery of BMW's first all-electric crossover.
The iX3 represents BMW's next step in their electric-car strategy. It complements the existing i3 and i8 with a range of fully electric versions of its core models.
It is based on the latest iteration of the X3 SUV, which is a high-riding family vehicle. The electric version is enhanced with more aerodynamic bodywork to reduce drag and improve efficiency.
BMW's signature kidney grille is now closed to manage the airflow at the front. The specially designed alloy wheels help in reducing the turbulence caused by conventional spoked wheels.
BMW’s latest electric motor as seen on the X3 30d powers this car and churns out over 270bhp. This new fifth-generation electric drivetrain draws its power from a high-voltage battery pack.
The battery pack is said to deliver a range of up to 400km on the WLTP cycle. There's a 150kw fast charger, which helps complete a full charge in just 30 minutes.
