BMW India is offering the X1 for Rs 24.99 lakh under an exchange programme for a limited period. We spoke to a dealer who confirmed that the price of the base model X1 sDrive 20d will cost 24.99 lakh irrespective of the vehicle being exchanged. It Rs 2.91 lakh lesser than the standard price Rs 27.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This offer is valid till July 31 across all BMW showrooms in the country.
While this may seem like an excellent offer on the vehicle, the reality seems to be that BMW is likely to have taken the step to counter the effects of the A-Class and the soon to be launched Audi Q3 Sport. While the A-Class diesel has been priced at Rs 22.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), we believe that Q3 Sport will be priced similarly to the X1.
It is unlikely that BMW will drop the X1’s price any further for various reasons, top of which seems that though the X1 is a CKD it is a rear-wheel drive making it significantly higher to assemble whereas the other two are front wheel drive.
