A BMW i8 prototype spotted in Germany with changes to its rear end has brought up speculations that the upgraded version definitely has a more powerful engine lurking beneath it.
This car has got a new rear engine cover that is opaque in nature and now incorporates more cooling vents. In addition to these new attributes, the car was also equipped with larger AP Racing brakes as the picture depicts. This confirms the rumours that the car will pack in more power over the regular version.
Earlier reports stated that the upcoming i8 will see an increase in power by 10 per cent, have a revised transmission and electric motor. This would lend close to a total of 420bhp to this car. However, sources now add that there could be a more powerful variant that may be termed the i8S. This version is expected to be powered by either a 320bhp four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine or a 3.0-litre six-cylinder 480bhp motor. Either of these will make use of an updated electric motor to send power to the wheels through the upgraded transmission.
A lot is yet to be confirmed on this new offering and expect the upgraded i8 to reach our shores as soon as it is revealed internationally.
