BMW had unveiled the refreshed i3 with cosmetic upgrades at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This is when the carmaker also introduced a range topping i3s performance variant, which is now also exhibited at the 2018 Auto Expo. While the public debut will be tomorrow, take a look at the pictures of the car with more power, lowered ride height and aggressive styling.
The i3s continues to carry forward some aggressive design from the i3. However, there are many elements that set it apart from the standard one. This includes a contrasting black finish for the front bumper.
The i3s gets a sportier stance than the i3 thanks to the sport suspension that has reduced the ride height. The track is increased by 40mm and up-sized to 20-inch alloys give it a better presence.
The cabin of the i3s is similar to the i3 featuring exotic and eco-friendly materials. The Atelier trim is standard while prospective buyers can opt for the Loft, Lodge and Suite interior trims as well.
The interior also features an updated 10.25-inch iDrive infotainment system with Professional navigation system and Apple CarPlay. Furthermore, there is a long list of BMW i ConnectedDrive apps.
The i3s features a sport mode and gets a bump in power output as compared to the standard i3. The i3s produces 184bhp and 270Nm as against the i3's 170bhp and 250Nm power output.
BMW says there is a 40 per cent improvement over the i3 with special bearings, better motor speed range and higher rpm. This helps the car sprint from 0-100kmph in 6.9 seconds.
