Back in September 2017, German premium car manufacturer BMW showcased the ‘i Vision Dynamics’ concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This time around, the company has confirmed that the production model will be called the new ‘i4’. The new model will be the third member in the i lineup. The new model will be produced in Munich and will be a part of 25 electrified vehicles to be introduced over a period of seven years.
The new BMW i4 features an advanced electric system that enables the vehicle to sprint from 0 – 100kmph in just four seconds. Top speed is limited to 200kmph while on a single charge, the vehicle can cover a distance of 600kms. Post launch, the vehicle will compete against the likes of the Tesla Model S.
Speaking about BMW’s electrification plans, Harald Kruger, Chairman of the Board of Management at BMW said, “By 2025, our global vehicle portfolio will include 25 fully- or part-electric models. At last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, we unveiled our take on the future of e-mobility with the BMW iVision Dynamics. This vehicle will become reality: we will build it in Munich – as the BMW i4.”
