A year ago, Jozef Kaban, the automobile designer who designed the Bugatti Veyron, joined BMW after his earlier stint with the VW Group. Kaban recently told reporters about BMW’s plan to differentiate each of their model’s design cues in response to customer feedback that their recent production cars look too similar to their predecessors.
However, when asked about the possibility of a new supercar, Josef Kaban immediately responded, “BMW is doing great cars, maybe there is space to dream about the next (new car), maybe something more extreme.” Although, the statement isn’t anywhere close to a firm “yes”, it just about leaves enough room for concrete speculation. After all, having been involved in the design of the Veyron makes him a strong candidate to design a BMW supercar if it were to happen in the future.
Sources have disclosed that the first product that will have all of Kaban’s (and his team’s) effort will be the next-generation 7 Series that’s due in about 3 years. And we certainly know that the company’s design language will undergo a makeover, especially after having seen concepts such as the Z4 and 8 Series being well-appreciated.
