BMW launched the first ever M3 back in 1986 and in turn revolutionised the small fast sedan as we know it. Since then, the M3 has continuously refined its iconic status across five model generations. To mark the 30th anniversary of the original E30 M3, BMW’s M division has prepared the M3 30 Jahre limited edition, which is limited in the UK to only 30 cars.
The M3 30 Jahre Edition builds on the Competition Package which is available for the standard M3. The Competition Package raises the engine output by 19hp to 450hp. Also included on this model is the adaptive M suspension, revised springs, dampers and stabilisers and modified Active M differential on the rear axle. Moreover, this new model also includes forged 20-inch wheels with different alloy design.
BMW says all of these measures lead to a noticeable increase in performance. The M3 30 Jahre Edition with the 7-speed M DCT gearbox sprints from 0 to 100kmph in just 4 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the standard model.
Priced at £82,675 (Rs 81.22 lakh), the M3 30 Jahre Edition goes on sale later this year, this being exactly 30 years after the sale of the first-ever M3. The latter made its debut at the 1985 Frankfurt Motor Show.
