From the looks of the camouflaged car in the picture, it sure looks like BMW is all set to bring back the 8 Series; a Grand Tourer that was built by the German brand between 1989 and 1999.
There’s been a lot of speculation over the 8 Series’ absence, as to whether the brand is actually bringing back this car. Over a period of time, a few concepts revealed by BMW had the traits to serve as a successor to the 8 Series, but the brand never confirmed it. However, while trademarking model names, BMW also locked on the names M850 and M8 which indicates that the model should be under development.
This camouflaged test mule displays the unmistakable BMW grille, and the long sloping roofline. Now, with the 8 Series being a full-sized luxury coupe that’s based on the 7 Series saloon, the new car will take on buyers who would otherwise opt for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe. As of now, there is no official confirmation about the engine options that could make it to this car, but stay tuned to CarWale for more information.
