BMW has launched a top-of-the-line version of its 7 Series sedan called the M 760Li and has priced it at Rs 2.2 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). It is the largest and most expensive car that BMW makes and is their new flagship model for the Indian market. It is available in the standard and V12 Excellence variants, both of which are priced the same. Let us begin with the most exciting bit of this car, which is that it is powered by M tuned twin-turbo 6.6-litre V12 engine producing 610bhp and a whopping 800Nm of torque. It is mated to an eight-speed sports steptronic transmission and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system. This propels this luxurious beast from 0 to 100kmph in an impressive 3.7 seconds and then on to an electronically limited top-speed of 250kmph. On the outside, this speedy barge gets M-spec alloy wheels, quad exhausts, sporty M-spec bumpers and of course, those unique M badges on the boot lid and near the front wheel wells that loudly proclaims its pedigree. The cabin is standard BMW 7 Series stuff and gets all the luxury touches like multi-zone climate control, leather seats, digital instrument cluster, iDrive infotainment system with gesture control and of course seat massagers all around. This car is being brought to India via the CBU route and this makes the customisation options for the car virtually unending and the best BMW can offer. The ultra-luxury market has seen a surge in demand over the last few years prompting manufacturers to introduce even more luxurious versions of luxury cars. Products from this school of thought include the Audi A8 W12, Mercedes Maybach S 600 and of course the M760Li. They are all priced similarly and offer the same levels of equipment, thus keeping a level playing field.
