The current BMW 7 Series has been around for just a short while, but already word has begun to spread that the automaker will put into production a mid-life update in 2019. Reports suggest that the car will be publicly showcased at the end of this year playing along the lines of the German automaker’s strategy to reveal models well ahead of their production and launch dates.
At this early stage, it is hard to imagine where BMW will take the 7 Series as this G11 generation is a quite a substantial leap from the previous model in terms of features, dynamics and performance too. It seems likely that there will be major updates rather than overall changes to the vehicle.
However, given how EVs have leaped to the forefront in the two years that this current 7 was launched, we believe that BMW will showcase more hybrid versions as well as at least one full electric version. The hybrid is expected to be called the 745e while a full electric version may actually be called an i7!
Whatever be the case, this facelift will come to India and of the entire range, some of the petrol and single diesel variants will be locally assembled at their Chennai plant.Â
