Post much wait, the BMW 6 Series GT has finally been launched in India. The new model sits between the 5 Series and the flagship 7 Series sedan. The new model claims to offer improved and better set of features as compared to its predecessors. Here below are five unique elements that differentiates it from the 5 series GT.
Exterior
The new BMW 6 Series GT is indeed sleeker and sportier as compared to the older one. The A-Pillar has now been raked back sharply, thereby giving it a sportier design. The vehicle deploys its spoiler at 120kmph to create that additional downforce during high speed runs. Moreover, the vehicle also gets significant underbody cladding as part of its improved aerodynamic design element.
Space and comfort
The 6 Series GT gets premium upholstery along with brushed metal finish and sport matte wood finish that gives it a classy appeal. For freshness, the vehicle gets a revised instrument cluster and the meter is capable of changing colours based on driving modes. The dashboard features a new 10.25 inch touchscreen. The 40:20:40 split rear seats offer generous room for the occupants.
Engine
Mechanically, the 6 Series GT is offered with two petrol engine options – a 2.0-litre 225bhp turbo petrol and a 3.0-litre 335bhp V6 turbo petrol. The new model also gets a 263bhp 3.0-litre straight six turbodiesel option mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. BMW will offer the X-Drive all-wheel drive system as standard with the 3.0-litre mills with the 2.0-litre petrol being limited to rear-wheel drive option only. The new model claims to have shed weight by 150kgs due to more use of aluminium construct.
