BMW India's GT line-up had the 630d GT Luxury Line and M Sport trims. Now, the carmaker has also introduced the 620d in the Luxury line design scheme only. It joins the other models at the German carmaker's Chennai plant for local assembly. Take a look at the pictures of the most affordable 6 GT, which still packs in many creature comforts and the electronic wizardry that BMWs are known for.
Priced at an ex-showroom price of Rs 63.90 lakhs, the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is a new entry-level variant to the 6 Series GT line-up. It is available with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine.
This turbo diesel mill is tuned to churn out 188bhp and 400Nm of peak torque available between 1,750-2,500 rpm. The 620d GT is fast and can do the 0-100kmph sprint in just 7.9 seconds.
The motor comes mated to an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. It gets cruise control, as well as multiple driving modes like sport, comfort, comfort+, eco pro and adaptive.
To improve ride comfort and also sharpen the driving dynamics, the car boasts of an adaptive two-axle air suspension with automatic self-levelling.
Inside, a pearl chrome finish adds to its exclusivity. Otherwise like its GT siblings, the 620d also gets a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel, ambient lighting and fine wood inserts across the cabin.
Other interesting features include a two-part panorama glass roof and electrically operated adjustable rear seats with electrically operated rear sun-blinds.
Another highlight is the rear-seat Entertainment Professional system with two 10.2-inch colour screens mounted behind the front-seat backrests.
Then, there's a BluRay player, HDMI connection for mobiles, as well as various connections for MP3 players and gaming consoles.
Design-wise, the BMW 6 Series GT line-up was updated last year and the model 620d GT continues to come with a distinctive coupe roofline, frameless windows and an automatic tailgate.
Up front are wide Adaptive LED headlights with BMW Selective Beam and cornering lights. Then, your attention will be grabbed by the wide and iconic kidney grille from BMW.
While this Luxury Line variant adds a dash of chrome to the package for an enhanced appeal, the 620d GT also comes equipped with an Active rear spoiler.
