BMW has launched a petrol variant for its 5 Series sedan at Rs 54 lakh (All-India ex-showroom). It is being brought to India via the CBU route and is available in the 520i luxury line trim level.
The car can be had in white, black and blue of which only white is a non-metallic option. Externally, it also gets a chrome package as well as luxury line badging. Standard features include an iDrive infotainment system, climate control and leather trim that can be had in a shade of brown or black.
The engine powering this petrol variant is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit producing 184bhp and 270Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a ZF eight-speed Steptronic transmission. The car has a 0-100kmph time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 233kmph.
BMW had launched this generation of the 5 Series for the Indian market in October 2014 but was only offering it with diesel engines due to a skew in customer preference. This is the first time since then that they have offered a petrol option for this generation of the car in the Indian market. It rivals the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class E200 as well as the Jaguar 2.0-litre XF petrol.
