The facelifted 2014 BMW 5 Series has been revealed. The car has already been spotted quite a few times while testing and features mostly cosmetic changes both inside and outside. The range will now also get a base diesel variant called the 518d.
On the outside, the facelifted 5 Series gets revised air intakes in the front and revised kidney grille. The rear end is pretty much the same as the previous model sans some changes to the taillights, exhaust pipes and a slightly revised rear bumper. The German automaker is also offering revised design for the alloy wheels as well as mirror mounted indicators. The interiors get new options for the upholstery, trims as well as two new special packages called the modern line package and luxury line package in addition to the M line packages.
However, the biggest addition is that the 5-Series range is that it will now get a four-cylinder diesel mill variant called the 518d. The engine produces 144PS and is available with the sedan and touring variant. The top-of-the-line variant across the entire range now gets a new V8 mill that produces 450PS and has been coupled with the German automakers ActiveHybrid 5 technology.
The car is expected to make its Indian debut by the end of the year. The new base diesel variant will also be offered at the time of the launch.
