- One variant on offer
- Only available in long wheelbase
BMW recently launched the latest generation of the 5 Series in India at Rs. 72.9 lakh (ex-showroom). The sedan is only available in its long-wheelbase form and a single variant - 530Li M Sport. Deliveries will begin in September and the car will rival the Mercedes-Benz E-Class long wheelbase and the Audi A6. We have driven the car and here is a picture gallery from our first drive review.

In its eighth generation, the BMW 5 Series features a redesigned kidney grille flanked by sleek twin-pod LED headlights. The grille is illuminated.
The car comes equipped with new door handles and a metallic trim around the window frame. It boasts the number ‘5’ embossed on the C-pillar.
At the back, the sedan features slim wrap-around LED taillights and a sculpted rear bumper with integrated reflectors.
What's more, it rides on 18-inch wheels, but customers can opt for the larger 19-inch rims. Furthermore, these can be matched to the colour of the grille and other accents.
Inside, there are big screens and fewer physical buttons. There’s a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster behind the new three-spoke steering wheel.
Then, the centre console houses a 14.9-inch curved display running the latest generation BMW operating system 8.5.
BMW 5 Series 530Li powertrain
The 5 Series is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The engine comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. BMW claims the 530Li can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 6.5 seconds.
