The BMW 4-Series coupe has been spied sans camouflage. The car (codenamed F32) was shown as a concept vehicle during the LA auto Show last year and was expected to go into production later this year. It will replace the 3-Series coupe and is also expected to spawn a performance car called the M4 as well as convertible variant.
The 4-Series that was snapped is the 435i variant and has retained most of the design elements seen in the concept car.The front bumpers is the same as the concept car but the rear is a more conventional BMW design and now has twin tail pipes. On the sides the flared wheel arches for the rear-wheels give the car a very muscular stance.
Reports also suggests that BMW has retained the same headlights as the 3-Series but has redesigned the tail lights and has now made them slightly smaller and a little longer. Not much is known about the engine line up or the interiors but we suspect that it will include at least two turbocharged petrol engines and one turbocharged diesel mill. These mills will most likely make use of the German automakers Efficient Dynamics technology to keep emissions down to a minimum as well as increase fuel efficiency.
The car is expected to be launched later this year and will go on sale shortly after that. It is expected to cost around four to five thousand pounds more than the current 3-Series coupe with an additional two thousand pounds for the convertible version which will see the light of day in 2015.
There is also expected to be a 4-Series Gran Coupe which will make its debut in 2015. Since this car is expected to replace the 3-Series coupe globally, it is sure to arrive for the Indian markets by the middle of next year. The 4-Series range is also expected to have a sedan as well as a crossover, both of which will also be launched in the Indian market once they are put on sale globally.
