BMW is expected to unveil the four-door variant of the 4-Series at the Geneva Motor Show scheduled to take place in March 2014. This new version named as the 4-Series Gran Coupe will add to the line-up of the German automaker’s line-up which includes the the convertibles and the M4 versions in that category.
The prototypes of the BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe have been spied testing several times before. This car is just the four-door variant of the present two-door car. The dimensions of this new car are the same as the coupe or the convertible, but the vehicle is heavier by 100kg as compared to the 4-Series coupe owing to the additional frameless doors and strengthened B-pillars. Though impersonating the 3-Series, the manufacturer might offer the Gran Coupe as a sportier option to the former sibling.
The BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe will be powered by the same four and six-cylinder engines, the present car is equipped with. The powertrain options include the rear-wheel-drive offered as standard while the all-wheel-drive is as an alternative.
The 4-Series Gran Coupe will go on sale in the UK by mid-2014. The car will cost about Rs 5.1 lakh more than its 3-Series counterpart when launched.
