BMW India has launched a 3 Series Shadow Edition in India at a price of Rs 41.40 lakhs (ex-showroom India). This limited edition variant can be had in the 320d Sport and 330i M Sport trim. Compared to the standard variant, the Shadow Edition is around Rs 2.2 lakhs dearer. BMW India hasn’t revealed the number of units available for this special edition variant.
The Shadow Edition comes with cosmetic additions such as a high-gloss black finish Kidney grille, besides which the headlamps and tail lamps get a smoked effect. The 18-inch alloy wheels get a stylish new design while the exhaust tips have a black chrome finish. On the inside, BMW has added a contrasting red-black upholstery with an all-digital 10.5-inch instrument cluster and M Sport steering wheel. The 8.7-inch floating infotainment screen comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other additional features include heads-up display, reverse parking sensors and camera, and a 205Watts music system. The 330i also gets a special variable sport steering system.
There are no changes to the powertrain. So the 330i comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine under the hood which produces 252bhp and 350Nm. The 320d, meanwhile, is powered by a 2.0-litre oil burner pushing out 190bhp and a healthy 400Nm. Both the cars come with an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard.
BMW revealed three additional trims for the 3 Series last year specific to some international markets. These three added trims were called – Edition Sport Line Shadow, Edition Luxury Line Purity and the Edition M Sport Shadow. The limited-run Shadow Edition launched in India gets the same cosmetic updates as these trims but it misses out on a few additional creature comforts such as leather-cloth upholstery, carbon fibre inserts, and adaptive LED headlights. The Edition M Sport Shadow trim also comes with M sports suspension, a new aerodynamics package, lighter alloy wheels and an additional Sport+ driving mode.
