BMW 3 Series, the brands mainstay when it comes to volumes the world over, might get minor cosmetic upgrades and new engines. Introduced in late 2011, the car has been on sale since early 2012. This might be the mid-cycle update for the F30 3 Series.
Several test mules of the car were spotted, but surprisingly only the front was camouflaged in all these cars. While this hints at a restyled bumper, headlights and kidney grille at the front, we might also see minor changes to the rear once the model is out. Interiors should get some attention and like the recently updated X3 and might incorporate additional features and interior trims.
The source also claims, BMW might give the car new nomenclatures – 330i and 340i replacing the 328i and 335i badges. The source adds, the updated 3 Series will get a new four-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbocharged engine codenamed B48 and a new straight six, 3.0-litre turbocharged mill codenamed B58. Also, minor changes to the diesel range is also expected.
We can expect BMW India to launch the updated 3 Series within six to eight months of its global unveiling. Mercedes will introduce the new C-Class in 2015 in India and we expect the updated 3 Series to be launched around the same time period as the new C-Class.
