BMW will give its popular sedan the 3 Series - a minor facelift, and the upcoming car has been spotted testing in Germany. The updates couldn’t have come at a better time as Mercedes has launched its new C-Class this year and it seems to have generated quite an interest worldwide.
The changes seem to be subtle with minor nips and tucks to thefront and rear bumper, redesigned air intakes. It is not very clear from the spy images if the car will get restyled headlamps and tail lights, but there is a possibility that the illumination devices may get slight revisions.
However, expect some major additions and enhancements in the powertrain department as BMW will upgrade its existing four and six cylinder engines for more power and better efficiency. It might sound a little puny for the 3 Series but a 1.5-litre TwinPower three-pot mill might also be added to the options list along with a plug-in hybrid model.
The revised 3 Series might be launched as early as the first quarter of 2015 in the global markets. We can expect the facelifted car here in India within six months from its global launch. But, we may not get the plug-in hybrid model or the smaller capacity 1.5-litre engine powered variant either.
