The BMW 3 Series facelift is likely to be revealed on May 7. The current car has been on sale globally since late 2011 and this is a mid-life update before an all-new model is introduced in 2017. A majority of the changes are expected to be cosmetic though we believe that BMW may also introduce a version with its three-cylinder petrol engine.
External changes are expected to include tweaked bumpers, adaptive LED headlamps and slightly modified kidney grille. The overall layout of the cabin is not expected to change but expect some updates to iDrive system and updates to the control surfaces with regard to the German automaker’s latest design language.
On the engine front, it will continue with a range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. As we had said earlier, reports suggest that BMW may also offer its 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine in a base spec model.
We in India got the sixth-generation 3 Series in July 2012. It is expected that this mid-life facelift will be launched in India by the end of the year.
