The BMW 1 Series will soon be available with a 3-cylinder petrol engine for the 3-door and 5-door versions of the 118i model. The company has announced that it will launch the 118i with a more efficient 3-cylinder unit starting July this year.
Already featured on BMW’s other models such as 2 Series Coupe, 2 Series Active Tourer and the much anticipated 2 Series Gran Tourer and the 3 Series sedan, this new 3-cylinder unit is based on BMW Group’s latest generation of compact and efficient engine range.
The engine produces 136hp in the 118i and allows the hatchback to accelerate from zero to 100mph in 8.5 seconds. In all, the 1 Series now comes with four petrol and five diesel engine options.
BMW has revealed that the 118i will go on sale from July onwards, with prices starting at £20,245 (Rs 19.85 lakh).
