A production ready model of the BMW 1 Series Sedan has been spotted in China. It will go on sale later this year and be the entry-level four door model from the German automaker. It replaces the hatchback and will be a China only model for 2017.
We have seen multiple model of the sedan including the concept car which was called the ‘Compact Sedan Concept’ and these latest photos confirm that the vehicle is smaller version of the 3, 5 and 7 Series. It is underpinned by automaker’s the UKL2 platform and will be offered in China with a range of petrol engines.
In China, it will take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz CLA, Audi A3 and the Volvo V40 in the entry-level luxury segment. We are sure to get this car in India and in addition to the range of petrol engines, it will also get the 1.5-litre diesel unit found in the Mini range currently on sale here. Expect local assembly and an early 2018 debut for the same in India.
