The upcoming BMW 1 Series sedan has been spotted on test and this time the spy shots also include the interior of the vehicle. The new sedan, from the Bavarian automaker will be one of its new front-wheel drive UKL1 platform underpinned models and is expected to be launched in late 2015.
At first glance and obviously going by BMW’s general design philosophy, the 1 Series sedan will look much like the current 3/5/7 series and will be just marginally smaller than the current 3 Series sedan. It has the same lines from the current range including the forward sloping stance, stubby boot and bulges on the bonnet.
The interior spy shots reveals that the 1 Series sedan (if we are to go by the current pictures) will get a rather basic setup which includes a touchscreen, climate control and steering mounted audio controls. Not visible in the pictures but expected to be there when the car is launched are seat memory functions and more chrome for the dashboard.
On the engine front, the 1 Series is expected to make use of the 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel from the 2014 Mini range of cars. There is also expected to be a performance version which will get the 2.0-litre four pot motor from the current 3 Series.
Now the bigger question is, will we get to see this car in India? The answer is yes, simply because BMW sees much potential from the Indian market and will bring this car in to rival the A-Class and Audi A3, something that the current 1 Series is struggling to achieve.
