Sources suggest that Bentley’s upcoming SUV has strong chances of going all-electric.
The brand has interestingly revealed that they’re looking for a new set of clients for their next SUV, and if you think about it, this is highly probable if the new vehicle went the all-electric way. Rolf Frech, board member for engineering at Bentley said, "If you are looking for an SUV smaller than the Bentayga, then we are looking at that in combination with the possibilities to go full electric. It only makes sense if you get really new customers into the brand."
Bentley has already revealed their intentions of introducing more SUVs in the future when the brand’s CEO Wolfgang Durheimer told reporters that they have no intentions of sticking with only one SUV model in the long run. He also added that the company feels a smaller Bentayga would be accepted well in the market.
Nevertheless, Bentley is in the process of first chalking out a plan to offer plug-in hybrid versions of all its models, beginning with the Bentayga. After which, development of the fully-electric vehicles will then be given priority. This ideally means that the fully-electric SUV will see the light of the day only by the year 2020. Stay tuned for more information.
