Bentley has revealed the new Continental GT Speed Convertible and will officially launch it at the Detroit Auto Show on January 14. The British automakers has said that its new flagship convertible will hit a top speed of 325kmph (in drinks galore comfort of course) and is now the worlds’ fastest convertible.
In the world of Bentley massive has always been a way of life and that is how they plan to keep it via the massive twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine. It produces 616bhp and an astronomical 850Nm of torque that will propel the car from 0-100 in 4.4 seconds. The car gets a new eight-speed gearbox that improves efficiency by 15 per cent. This is an incredible feat given the fact that the GT Speed Convertible weighs 2.4 tonnes!
Along with the usual set of driver aids and many safety features, Bentley has also installed its all-wheel drive system, with 60:40 spilt ratio in favour of the rear wheels.
On the front, the car gets a matrix radiator grille, air intakes on the bumpers which have a chrome finish. The massive 21-inch alloy wheels are unique to this model and are available in silver or an optional dark tint. The back is dominated by twin exhaust pipes and a specially designed boot lid which doubles up as the rear spoiler to aid in providing grip.
The insides, as one would expect from a manufacturer like Bentley, has been hand built and kitted out to make the extremely fast ride as comfortable as possible. Diamond quilted leather upholstery, options of a wood or carbon fibre trimmings as well as an infotainment system and a six CD changer are some of the options available. The seats even have a neck warmer feature which the company says is useful when the temperature is a little bit on the cooler side.
The GT Speed will go on sale in the UK towards of June with prices starting at 167,900 GBP (Rs 1.4 Crore before taxes).
