Bentley has released the first teaser video of its upcoming SUV, ahead of its launch in 2016. The video doesn’t show too many details, but the SUV has familiar Bentley looks, with styling cues borrowed from the Continental and Mulsanne.
The front fascia gets the same mesh grille with twin-round light clusters, as found in the Continental GT, with larger air dams. The summer testing of the SUV is complete and winter testing will begin soon.
The company in a statement said, "(The video) shows how the exterior of this remarkable new car is taking shape. Sculpted, contemporary and distinctive design is being combined with the exquisite and meticulous detailing for which Bentley is renowned."
The unnamed SUV will be powered by Bentley’s existing V8 and the W12 engines and it might also get an option of a plug-in-hybrid by 2017. It is rumoured that a diesel engine may find its way under the hood of the SUV.
The SUV might be priced from GBP 1,40,000 (Rs 1.38 crore) as confirmed by the company earlier. This will make it one of the most expensive SUVs around making it stay true to the brand’s niche status. In India, we can expect the SUV to be available in less than a year from the date of its launch and expect it to cost a bomb.
