It’s raining hybrids and the latest to join the bandwagon is the Volkswagen-owned British luxury manufacturer, Bentley. It will preview a new hybrid car based on its Mulsanne luxury sedan at the Chinese Motor Show but has not revealed any details on the power train apart from the fact that it make use of the 6/3-litre V8 engine mated to an hybrid system.
A report from Autocar UK quotes Bentley as saying that the Hybrid Concept will deliver a 25 per cent increase in power but will see a 70 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions when compared to the standard car’s output.
It is therefore expected that the hybrid’s power train will produce 631bhp as compared to the Mulsanne’s 505bhp but from the same 6/3–litre V8 engine. The hybrid is expected to have a CO2 emission of 118g/km.
Inside, the car retains all the standard luxuries and fitting of the Mulsanne but now gets copper accents both inside and outside to highlights the car’s electric veins. It is also possible that this gold shade has been added for the Chinese market as it is a favoured shade among its consumers.
