In a bid to take driving satisfaction to the next level, Bentley has been looking for a diesel powertrain to power the Bentayga. And going by reports, it sure seems like they’ve locked on to one such motor for this application.
Sources claim that Bentley might equip the Bentayga with the 4.0-litre diesel V8 from the Audi SQ7. This engine is capable of spinning out 900Nm of torque, is coupled to a 48 volt compressor that emits zero lag, and can do the sprint to 100kmph in 4.8sec (in the SQ7). Sounds apt for the Bentley SUV too, right?
Despite the current Bentley Bentayga coming with a more powerful W12 petrol engine, all that really matters to owners is the low-end grunt, as they are not going to wring their Bentley SUV to its top speeds. As of now, there’s no comment on when the diesel avatar of the Bentayga will make it to the international arena. However, it could make it to our shores eventually, taking into account our affinity and preference towards diesel SUVs.
