- Gets the new 4.0-litre diesel V8 engine – 429bhp power
- Should be launched in India in 2018
Bentley had introduced their first ever diesel engine last year in their first ever SUV, the Bentayga. And this SUV might come down to India as well. Because it has already been listed on the Indian website and knowing how fast the Bentaygas allotted for India have sold out, the diesel would certainly mean more numbers for Bentley in the Indian market.
The Bentayga, launched in India, is powered by a 600bhp 6.0-litre W12 and is currently one of the most expensive SUVs sold in the world. Fitted with all the luxuries, bells and whistles, the Bentley Bentayga W12 is priced at Rs 3.57 crore, ex-showroom, India. The Bentayga diesel gets the 4.0-litre V8 that was first seen in the Audi SQ7 and consequently made its way into the Porsches – the Cayenne and the Panamera. With 429bhp on tap, the Bentayga gets a massive 900Nm of torque and comes mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. This is the first production engine with an active electrically assisted turbocharger, a motorsports derived technology.
The Bentayga V8 diesel has all the customisation options that are offered with the W12 including the paint-schemes, upholstery, wooden garnishes and signature items. The diesel is also loaded to the gills with comfort and convenience features. Since all Bentleys are CBU imports in to the Indian market, introduction of the diesel option would certainly help Bentley India boost its annual sales numbers but it entirely depends on the production capacity and schedules at Crewe, Bentley’s manufacturing facility in the UK.
