Ford has recently equipped the base Ambiente variant of the EcoSport with a driver and co-passenger airbag as standard. Earlier, only the higher variants boasted of this safety feature.
The prices of the car have also gone up. The current Ambiente petrol version costs Rs 6,93,000, while the diesel is priced at Rs 7,60,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). Last month, the former was priced at Rs 6,92,900 and the latter at Rs 7,52,900. However, back then one could also buy the Ambiente petrol without airbags at Rs 6,75,000, and the corresponding diesel at Rs. 7,35,900. The revision in the prices of cars across their portfolio was made during the festive season. This is when they also updated the EcoSport's base variant with dual airbags.
Currently, all variants of the Ford EcoSport get airbags, while all the other features and powertrain options still remain the same. In fact, the Ambiente still misses out on ABS and EBD, which comes in the Trend and higher variants. Then, the top-of-the-line Titanium + and automatic trims continue to be equipped with six airbags (front, side and curtain).
Ford had launched the refreshed EcoSport for the Indian market last year. It was updated with new features and additional equipment, while the diesel version also benefitted from a horsepower hike. Now with added safety, Ford has even made the EcoSport’s base variants more appealing.
