With the heightening Formula 1 fever in the country, Base Batteries launched India’s first Formula One race car battery today in New Delhi. Base Batteries which has entered into a technical partnership with Formula One HRT team will be the first Indian battery manufacturer to be the official battery supplier for the Formula One HRT race car. Narain Karthikeyan, who will be driving the Formula One HRT race car for the Indian Grand Prix 2011 unveiled the battery.
The special battery designed and manufactured for HRT Formula One cars with cutting-edge technology, weighs 0.9 kg and is a 12V, 2.3 ampere hour battery. The dimensions of the battery are 114X 39X 87mm (LXWXH).The HRT Formula One race car in which the first Indian Formula One car battery by Base is to be fitted was also unveiled in a dramatic manner. During the launch, Narain Karthikeyan and the race car came out of a large mould of a racing helmet as the vizor slowly opened.
HRT Team Principal Colin Kolles commented, “We are confident that the innovative design and the world class technology that Base Batteries bring to the HRT race car is in sync with our ambitions to excel.
