The Ford Everest Concept was unveiled at the Bangkok Motor Show yesterday. Incidentally, Ford officially revealed its Figo concept car just before the Auto Expo. While most believed Ford would unveil the Endeavour concept at the Auto Expo but its Asian debut happened in Thailand.
Ford’s Everest was made for the ASEAN countries, however the new model might venture into global markets as well.
“The Ford Everest Concept shows the bold new direction that we envision for a mid-size, seven-seat SUV that has been designed for ASEAN and global markets,” said Matt Bradley, president of Ford ASEAN. He also revealed that the production Everest, based on this concept (a “strong precursor” Ford says), will be built in Rayong, Thailand, alongside the Ranger.
However, Ford seems to be in no hurry with the new Everest, having showcased the SUV close to end of 2013, we can expect the production ready model to hit the market anytime next year. It doesn’t have any radical lines, outrageous wheels or fancy headlights and can be even passed off as a production ready model.
In India, the Endeavour hasn’t received any major upgrade for a while and the sales of the Endeavour have taken a big hit in the competitive SUV segment. Ford showed us the facelifted Endeavour at the Auto Expo which might act as a buffer until the new model is launched. We are eager to watch how the new Endeavour takes shape, and will report on it as soon as we get information.
