Audi has unveiled an updated Euro-6 compliant version of its 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine at the Vienna Motor Symposium in Austria. This engine in its current Euro-5 form powers variants of the Audi Q7, A8/A8L, Q5 and the A6 and is expected to continue for the same in the next generation of vehicles and emission standard.
The engine dubbed ‘clean diesel’ has a displacement of 2967cc and is available in two outputs-218bhp and 272bhp with both states of tune having close to 600Nm of torque. Audi says it has earned the clean diesel moniker thanks to an emission of just 24.1 gram per 1.6Km.
We in India are a long way off from achieving Euro 5 compliance, let alone Euro 6 so this engine is not expected to be fitted to the Audis sold in India anytime soon.
