To excite the fans and enthusiasts, Audi has already revealed the R8 competition before its premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This car is said to be the most powerful vehicle to be ever produced by the German automaker.
While the R8 Competition borrows styling cues from the R8 LMS, the sportscar incorporates a lot of matte carbon-fibre elements in the feature list. The front spoiler, side blades, OVRMs, the rear diffuser and the rear wing, all of them get a carbon-fibre finish. While the car gets alloys painted in gloss black, it is equipped with carbon ceramic brakes and sport anodized brake calipers that are painted in red. The sports exhaust system includes the tailpipes whose outlets are again gloss black coloured.
Inside the cabin, the carbon-fibre look is continued with the upholstery getting those accents. The company provides the customer an option to customise the colour in the interior. Another feature is the door sill plates that come illuminated with 'R8 Competition' badging.
The main highlight, however, is the powertrain that make the R8 Competition the most powerful Audi car ever. The car is powered by a 5.2-litre V10 engine that churns out 570bhp of power and comes mated to the seven-speed S-tronic transmission. This humongous power is sent to all the wheels through the all-wheel drive system that propels the car from 0mph to 60mph in just 3.2 seconds and doing a top-speed of 199mph (320kmph).
The Audi R8 Competition will be only sold in the US while the carmaker will start accepting orders of the car in the coming month. Only 60 units of the sportscar will be produced, deliveries of which are expected to happen only by the start of the New Year.
