Audi has unveiled a limited edition of its flagship car, the R8, that will be on sale only in China. Most of the changes to this People’s Republic special edition are cosmetic and Audi confirms that the production will be limited to 30 units.
Audi is offering this model in three exclusive colours Malibu Blue, Suzuka Grey and Cool Nordic Gold. These paint schemes have been complemented by contrasting colour side blades, carbon-fibre rear wing and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin is being offered with the option of Alacantra or leather trim, an Alacantra steering wheel and body coloured accents. The German automaker has individually numbered each vehicle on the gear knob, but this being China, they have left out all numbers with four to respect the cultural habits of the people.
Under the hood, Audi has retained the 5.2-litre V10 engine that produces 525bhp and 530Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the wheels via an R-tronic six-speed gearbox and Audi’s patented Quattro four-wheel drive system.
While the colour and interior trim are currently only for the special China edition, we can expect that Audi will offer all the trappings as optional fittings for the R8 in the future.
