- Just 44 cars will be made worldwide
- Gets more Aero bits but no changes to the engine
The Audi R8 is a special car by itself, but in the company of some newly launched exotics it does look a little pale. To fix that Audi has just gone ahead and revealed the exclusive Sport Performance Parts R8 edition with some go-faster bits. To make it exclusive, just 44 cars will be available worldwide. Finished in Misano red and attached with a bespoke aerodynamic kit made by Audi Sport, the car should get a bump in handling and performance. The body add-ons are made of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic, were reportedly developed in the wind tunnel, and include a front splitter, side skirts, aero flics on the front bumper and a racy rear wing.
It also gets a carbon-fibre diffuser helping deliver 250kg of downforce at 330kmph, up 100kg on the standard car. The effects of the new package are also felt at lower speeds. The special edition car rides on 20-inch wheels that are a notable 8kg lighter than the standard wheels. Putting all that power down are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres measuring 245/30 at the front and 305/30 at the rear, while carbon-ceramic brake discs lurk provide some serious anchorage. To make sure the car appeals to the pure enthusiast, the car also comes with a bespoke double-wishbone adjustable suspension setup.
On the insides, the special edition gets a unique steering wheel amongst all the other luxuries available in the standard car. Audi hasn’t fiddles with the engine and it still makes a mammoth 610bhp and 560Nm of torque which is transmitted to all four wheels.
We hope at least one of the 44 cars planned, makes it on Indian roads for us to drool on.
