Following its much-anticipated unveiling earlier this year, the Audi Q2 is now on sale in the UK with prices starting at £22,380 (Rs 18.31 lakh). The brand has revealed that the first UK cars will arrive starting November 12.
The entry-level three-cylinder 1.0 TFSI model will be available later this year, starting at £20,230 (Rs 16.55 lakh). For now, the Q2 will be offered in SE, Sport, S line and top flight Edition 1 specification. Standard equipment includes progressive steering, smartphone interface, Audi pre-sense front with pedestrian recognition, different alloy wheels and LED lights front and rear (S line models).
As for the engines, there’s 150bhp 1.4 TFSI (manual and S tronic) and 116bhp 1.6 TDI (manual – S tronic to follow in late 2016) and 150bhp 2.0 TDI (with quattro drive and S tronic initially). The Q2 also gets Audi’s virtual cockpit, a head-up display and Audi side assist.
To celebrate the launch of the Q2, Audi is also offering the Edition #1 with 1.4 TFSI and 2.0 TDI engines. The car features unique Quantum grey paint, LED lights, Amaretto brown interior highlights, illuminated inlays, contrasting Manhattan grey lower body parts and a host of other individual touches.
The Q2 is being targeted at those with larger Mercedes and BMW models, who are looking to downsize their vehicles. The Q2, then, competes with the likes of the luxury compact vehicles such as the BMW 1 Series hatchback or Mercedes’ GLA.
