The German luxury carmaker Audi has announced that it will showcase an all-new 2-litre TFSI engine later this month. Claimed to be the most efficient 2-litre petrol engine in its class, the engine will be revealed at the 36th Vienna Motor Symposium on May 7.
Audi says it will also be focusing on the plug-in hybrid drive equipped in the Q7 e-tron 3-litre TDI quattro model.
Commenting on the introduction of the new efficient petrol engine, Dr. Stefan Knirsch, Head of Powertrain Development, says, “We have been presenting our new drive technologies at the Vienna Motor Symposium regularly since 2009. One highlight was the four-cylinder TFSI with gasoline direct injection and turbocharging, which went on to become a successful engine worldwide following its introduction in 2007. The innovations that we are now showcasing in Vienna will add to this success story.”
The smallest and the most efficient petrol-powered Audi sold here in India features a 1798cc, four cylinder petrol unit. The engine powers two of the brand’s best-selling cars – the A3 and the A4.
