Audi has announced that the 2015 A6 saloon will be launched in India on August 12. Though the new A6 is mechanically similar to the current model, it has been given a host of cosmetic and technological updates, to take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Jaguar XF and the Volvo S80.
The athletic stance and the sharp lines give the Audi A6 a sporty character. The front of the new A6 sports a bolder, chrome embellished Bavarian beard grille, and massive air intakes, integrating the foglamps, in the lower bumper. The narrow slit-like headlamps integrates the LED DRLs, and complement the sporty lines of the A6. The new A6 comes with adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, Audi side assist, Audi active lane assist and a night vision assistant, besides other electronic assists.
We can expect the new A6 to be launched with a 2.0-litre TDI diesel and a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine. While the petrol unit produces 180bhp and 320Nm of torque, the oil burner churns out 177bhp and 380Nm of torque. While the current A6 comes with a Multitronic CVT gearbox, the new A6 gets a completely redeveloped dual-clutch unit. We can expect the performance-focussed Audi S6 to be launched later in the year.
The new Audi A6 will be marginally expensive than the current model, which means we can expect it to be priced in the Rs 45 lakh to Rs 60 lakh range.
