The Audi RS6 Avant is going to be launched in India tomorrow. The RS6 Avant is the top-of-line model in the A6 range and combines sports car performance with the practicality of an estate.
The front of the Audi RS6 Avant is dominated by the hexagonal Bulgarian beard grille, which reads ‘Quattro’ in bold lettering, and massive air dams in the lower bumper. The grille is flanked by sleek headlamps on both sides, which integrate the LED DRLs. The RS6’s profile is very similar to that of the Audi A6 sedan except for the rear section which, has been extended like a typical station wagon.
While the RS6 Avant might seem like an average estate car, under the car’s bonnet is a 4.0-litre TFSI engine, which is also used in the Audi RS7 Sportback sedan. This bi turbo V8 unit produces 560bhp and 700Nm of torque, which is sent to all four wheels through a Quattro four-wheel-drive system. The RS6 Avant can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.9 seconds, going to touch a top speed of 250kmph. Audi has used intelligent composite construction for the RS6’s architecture, to help keep the weight at bay. The RS6 Avant comes with an eight-speed ZF gearbox.
Globally, the Audi RS6 Avant rivals the Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Estate, though it doesn’t really have any competition in the Indian market.
