Following a controversial 2015, what with the Volkswagen Group emission scandal and it’s adverse after effects; Audi is looking forward to a strong growth this year. The brand has made it official that it will launch at least 20 new or revised models in 2016 to strengthen its foothold in the ever-growing luxury car market.
Despite the less-than-ideal market conditions, Audi had a substantial 2015 thanks to the roll out of important models like the latest-gen Q7 and the A4, besides crowd pullers like the all-new R8 and a handful of upgraded RS models.
Audi, as we know, has always banked heavily on its SUV and crossover range for success and the brand is looking to do more of the same for 2016. With the forthcoming Q2, for instance, Audi is stepping into a new budget market space altogether where there will eventually be a whole load of carmakers vying for supremacy. At the same time, the brand is also working on an all-new generation of the Q5 which is expected to be unveiled later this year. In all, Audi is making investments of more than €3 billion in 2016 and is already building an entirely new manufacturing facility in Mexico which will roll out certain Q models including the forthcoming generation of the Q5.
Besides the all-new Q2 that has just had its world debut in Geneva, Audi will eventually launch over 20 new and refreshed models globally. This new range will include products like the A4, the S4 and their respective Avant versions and the A5. As for the Q range, there will be an all-new Q5 and a plug-in hybrid as well as a performance model of the Q7, namely the Q7 e-tron and the SQ7. Now we do not expect all of these models to come to the Indian market, however, products like the new A4 sedan and the Q5 are certain to find their way onto the Indian shores to help Audi India put up a strong fight against Mercedes-Benz India and BMW India.
