- The impending Q8 will be the flagship SUV from Audi, and it is India bound as well.
- The teaser makes it out to be an 'SUV with coupe design'.
- More teasers to follow in the months to come, right up until the official premiere.
Audi has been developing the all-new Q8 for quite some time now. We brought you exclusive images of the SUV being tested, even in India, on many occasions. Now, the Ingolstadt-based carmaker has officially dropped a teaser image revealing the coupe-SUV lines of the Q8.
The teaser image shows the rear design sketch of the Q8 with the caption 'an SUV with coupe design'. This is the second official teaser for the Q8 and will be followed by a five-part video series leading to the global premiere, which is speculated to happen next month.
The German carmaker has already showcased the Concept guise of the newcomer at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show. This will be the largest coupe SUV that Audi produces and will rival the likes of the BMW X6 and the Mercedes GLE Coupe. As the name suggests, the Q8 will sit above the Q7 in Audi’s SUV line-up. It will follow standard Audi design elements like the chrome strips, hexagonal grille, wheel design and the new Audi tail lamps which now runs across the rear. The coupe-SUV silhouette will make the Q8 more appealing and stylish compared to the Q7.
We know, thanks to the extensive spy shot appearances, that the Q8 will be a five-seater only. It would have decent off-road hardware and it will tread easily where the roads start to disappear. But primarily, it would be a luxury SUV more than anything else.
Based on the MLB platform, it will borrow most of its drivetrain from the Q7 and other new SUVs like the new-gen VW Touareg, Porsche Cayenne, even the Lambo Urus and Bentley Bentayga. A hybrid variant won’t be a surprise either given VW Group’s electrification push. But we do know that a more potent RS Q8 is coming since Audi had showcased the Audi Q8 Sport Concept at the Geneva Show last year.
More details of the India-bound Q8 will be revealed in the days to come. So stay tuned to CarWale.
