Audi has released a teaser image of their upcoming Q model, which is most likely expected to be the Q1 SUV. The carmaker had confirmed the arrival of the Q1 earlier and the new teaser hints that this vehicle will be launched soon.
The Q1 was spied testing in a disguised avatar innumerous times before and even under the skin of the VW Tiguan. It is expected to ride on the Volkswagen Group’s modular MQB platform and have dimensions similar to the Q3. Knowing Audi's vehicles, even this entry-level SUV from its line-up will be loaded with advanced technologies and features giving a premium feel.
The crossover will be offered with front-and all-wheel drive powertrains offered in both diesel and petrol configurations. It will share its powertrain with other existing Audi models that might include a three-cylinder diesel mill as well as a twin-turbo 2.0-litre TDI engine. We can also expect Audi to offer the range-topping 310bhp mill from the Audi TTS for the performance based version of the Q1 at a later stage.
The Q1 will be Audi’s most affordable crossover when it hits the showrooms in Europe soon. And looking at the increasing demand for premium crossovers in India, we can also expect the manufacturer to introduce the Q1 for the Indian market. It will then be slotted below the A3 which is currently the most affordable Audi one can buy in India.
