It seems Audi wants to put an end to the traditional way of getting parcels delivered. In an effort to eradicate the common problem of parcels being returned to the depot, left with a neighbour or earmarked for re-delivery when a designated recipient is out, Audi has teamed up with Amazon and DHL to develop a system that arranges deliveries of parcels straight to the boot of Audi models.
The automaker has announced a pilot project labelled ‘Audi connect easy delivery’; wherein the deliveries will be done through temporary authorisation for keyless access to the car’s luggage compartment.
“With comprehensive connectivity, we are transforming the car into a service device and integrating it even more closely into the everyday lives of our customers,” says Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales at AUDI AG. “Audi connect easy delivery helps save time and offers more convenience and flexibility – advantages that are increasingly important for the target group of a premium brand.”
Additionally, there will be a different service to provide users with the option of putting in their Audi model as the shipping address for online orders. Audi has announced that it will run the pilot project under real conditions in May in Munich, Germany.
